#CLP2P – Ewan Bulger – Player Profile
Ewan Bulger
Ewan has represented Scotland at U17 and U18 level and is part of the Glasgow Regional Academy. He lives off the west coast of Scotland on the Isle of Arran and all of us at Coach Logic have been extremely impressed with his level of commitment to reach his dream of being a professional player.
Ewan said…
“Although 6’6 and 96kg there are stronger players, there are bigger and faster players (for now), but I don’t know of anyone who has given up so much to make their dream a reality. Certainly none I know of that would travel make an 80 mile round trip (which includes an hour boat journey) and an overnight stay (on floors, settees etc) for an hour gym session or two hour training session.
For the past 3 years I have travelled from the island to rugby training three times a week, staying away overnight and returning on a 7am ferry to go to school only to return to the mainland at the weekend to play matches.”
Scottish Rugby Development Officer, Stephen Edwards also believes Ewan has shown the personal qualities needed to go all the way.
“From an early age Ewan showed a great willingness to learn and develop, working tirelessly towards achieving his goals…..Ewan is an intelligent, polite and well behaved individual who does as requested without having to be asked twice. Leadership is one of his main attributes and he was a natural choice to captain the Pathway sides with which he was involved.”
Ewan also has a vast array of sporting achievements outside rugby which includes awards in swimming, karate, athletics and cross country running. His obvious sporting talent was recognised when he received a regional Rising Star Award . He is also a keen musician and if he gets selected the guys at the Inside Running academy better be prepared for some bagpipes!
“I would also like take the opportunity to take our culture to New Zealand in the shape of my Bagpipes to show them the Haka is nothing to be scared of.”
Ewan along with the other 5 candidates on the short list have been given the final task of completing a short video to show why they should win the Coach Logic Rugby Scholarship 2013. We will be uploading these videos to our YouTube Channel next Thursday evening and tomorrow night we will be profiling Cypriot International Burhan Torgut. Stay tuned to our social media channels for all our future announcements.
